We would like to thank Sudbury’s Lady Mayor, Jan Osborne, for presenting The Christopher Centre with a very kind and generous donation of £1000. Being chosen as one of The Mayors chosen charities for 2024 has been an honour.

News from The Christopher Centre for August 2024

Welcome from Linda and Kathy, Centre Coordinators.

High summer is now upon us; let’s hope the weather is set fine for the rest of the season.  It has certainly been a very busy time of late with the Election, the Euros and the Tennis taking up much of our time on the long rainy days. It would be nice to get out and about and enjoy what’s left of the summer.

Looking ahead as we mentioned in last month’s issue, The Christopher Centre will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary in October. To mark this event, we will be holding an ‘Afternoon of Memories’. We would love for you to get in touch with your memories of the place, probably mostly around the time that it was a Pub around 30 years ago but if you or anyone you know has any information/photos that you would like to share please do get in touch or pop in to leave your contact details.

Our Menopause ‘Lets Talk’ Support Group is taking a break in August as many of our group members will be on holiday. We will resume again on Thursday 5th September at 7pm.

We had Helen Forth, Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist as our guest speaker last month and this was a really interesting and informative evening, a big thank you to Helen for coming along to speak to us.

We welcome any suggestions for future speakers at our group, if you would like to be part of this friendly meeting please do get in touch.

Thank you’s

We would like to thank Roy’s for another two full donation pots, as their chosen charity of the year and with 10p for every carrier bag bought we thank everyone who has donated to these pots so far.

Thank you once again to the Coop for their continued support of refreshments to all of the groups who are based here at the Centre.

As always, we thank our amazing team of volunteers and trustees who support the work we do. We could not run the Centre without you all.

The Christopher Centre is a thriving community hub where many local groups run their classes and activities.

We are pleased to say that we now have another lovely room to hire at just £10 per hour, it is an ideal room, very light and airy with enough space for a large meeting up to 12 people.

We offer a number of rooms available to hire. We also house offices used by local voluntary and community organisations. Our room hire is available on an hourly basis, from £6.50 per hour.

We aim to continue bringing a friendly community approach to the people of Sudbury and surrounding areas, please contact us if you would like to visit with a view to hosting your group.

You can find us in Gainsborough Street opposite Gainsborough’s House. Why not come along say hello and have a look around?
